Volunteer: Provide a community member a ride to Senior Social Hour

A community member would like to attend JFCS' monthly Senior Social Hour for April, but needs transportation assistance to and from. The event is a movie matinee in collaboration with Congregation Neveh Shalom, happening on April 15th from 1-3pm. The individual lives at Edgewood Point Senior Living off of Schools Ferry in Beaverton--about a 13-minute drive SW of CNS. Are you able to provide a ride? You're welcome to stay and enjoy the movie, or just come back when the movie ends for the drive home.

Volunteer: Drive Clients to Community Seder 2026

Graciously, CBI's Sisterhood is hosting a community Passover Seder for JFCS clients. This is such a beloved event by clients, as for many, it's the only Seder they attend all Passover. Many of these clients are elderly Holocaust Survivors and folks with disabilities, meaning transportation is a barrier for them. You can help remove that barrier and give clients the opportunity to enjoy a stress-free Seder by offering to drive them to and from the event.

This event occurs Tuesday, April 7th, from 12-2pm. The event takes place in Goodman Hall at CBI. Volunteers are welcome to stay and help at the event, or simply drop off the client, and return at the end of the event to drive them home.

When you sign up, please note what neighborhood you live in so you can be matched with a client who lives near you.

Thank you in advance for signing up to help!

Volunteer: Recurring volunteer needed to transport food bags from CNS to JFCS

JFCS has started a new partnership with Congregatoin Neveh Shalom in which their food pantry bags are offered to our clients. This is a wonderful opportunity that requires a little help from volunteers. We need 1-2 reliable volunteers to help transport pre-packaged food bags from Congregation Neveh Shalom to the downtown JFCS offices. This role ensures that essential food resources reach individuals and families in need in a timely and efficient manner.

This is a minimal time commitment with pickups and drop-offs scheduled 1–2 times monthly. Dates and times will be pre-planned and coordinated between the volunteer, JFCS staff, and the CNS Food Pantry volunteers.

Requirements:

Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license.Ability to lift and carry food bags (Max of 25 pounds).Willingness to meet with CNS for prior approval, as CNS operates a closed campus for security reasons.Ability to transport during regular business hours, Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM.Dependable, punctual, and comfortable communicating via email or phone for scheduling.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible, low-hour way to support food access in our community.

Volunteer: Raise Your Hand for Tech Assistance to Clients

COVID-19 has highlighted how many individuals in our community do not have enough access to the technology that powers society. JFCS has a goal to supply clients in need with the materials and information so they can use technology. We are looking for volunteers who feel comfortable assisting these clients in their journey to become tech-proficient. Some possibilities include:

Helping a client set up a new device (iPad, Laptop, cell phone)

Helping a client learn Zoom

Allow clients to reach out to you via email for specific  questions, like, how to install programs, how to trouble-shoot internet connectivity

Leading special sessions for several people to tune into to (i.e. hold a seminar "Tricks to Identify Phishing Scams" via Zoom)
