Each year, JFCS provides Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Partner organizations sponsor items for the food boxes — that brim with potatoes, a kosher turkey, pumpkin pie and more — that volunteers pack and deliver to community members. If you’d like to volunteer your time and energy for this event to make your and so many others’ holiday season special and fulfilling, please respond to this opportunity.
We are so excited to go back to having volunteer help with the boxing of the food items in the gym! This entails moving, organizing, and packaging the donated food items. Other roles include: assembling the boxes, keeping count of food items, and bringing completed boxes out to the cars. If you have an interest in a specific role feel free to note it upon sign-up.
Important information:
- This event will take place between 10-11:30 am at o the MJCC gym. The task should take about an hour to an hour and a half
- This task might require you to carry heavy boxes.
- You must be vaccinated to volunteer at in-person events with JFCS
- If you sign up and have not been previously background-checked by JFCS, we will be sending you a background check via Sterling Volunteers
- We will have coffee for you :)
Keep in mind when signing up:
- Even if a time slot is full, we recommend joining the waitlist if you are interested, as people's schedules can change before then!
- You have to register for the Galaxy site to respond to the opportunity.
- If you will be doing this task in the same car as other family and/or friends, please have them register for the Galaxy platform, upload their vaccine card in 'User Files' and write their full name in the response question section of your sign-up. You do not both need to sign up for the shift.
