Each year, JFCS provides Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Partner organizations sponsor items for the food boxes that brim with potatoes, a kosher turkey, pumpkin pie and more, that volunteers then pack and deliver to community members. Click here to see a video of 2021's Thanksgiving event. If you’d like to volunteer your time and energy for this event to make your and so many others’ holiday season special and fulfilling, please respond to this opportunity.
A big part of what we need volunteer help with is the boxing of the food items in the gym! This entails moving, organizing, and packaging the donated food items. Other roles include: assembling the cardboard boxes, laying out the food, keeping count of food items, and bringing completed boxes out to the cars. If you have an interest in a specific role feel free to note it upon sign-up.
Important information:
- This event will happen between 10-11:30 am at the MJCC gym. The task should take about an hour to an hour and a half
- This task might require you to carry heavy boxes.
- We will have coffee and pastries for you :)
Keep in mind when signing up:
- Even if the opportunity is full, we recommend joining the waitlist if you are interested, as people's schedules can change before then!
- You have to register for the Galaxy site to respond to the opportunity.
